Elbowroom is about gaps in our mental, emotional and sexual cultures. Elbowroom exhibits artists who deal with what is invisible or uncommon in our mental and physical reality. Their works examine, prompt and expose without arriving at fixed conclusions. The works investigate what it means to exist in the in-between. It is also about creating enough room to manoeuvre without the restraints of an established order. The concerns of the artists emanate from a place known as the 'borderland' - where the usual rules do not apply, where power is challenged, and the effects are unexpected, maybe even disturbing. It is the curators' intention that the works will speak to the senses before an intellectual interpretation is possible.
